Farm Box Style Model Coming

Starting July 17th, our Online Marketplace will change to a farm-box style model, similar to a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) model. Rather than the current collection of retail products, we will only be able to offer pre-designed food boxes. 

The last date for customized ordering is Sunday, July 16th (placed by midnight) for delivery the week of July 17th - July 21st. 

We understand this change will limit the customer choice that we have strived to provide, but it is one we have to make in order to sustain our food hub. As many of you know, hiring is incredibly difficult these days and we are experiencing this ourselves. Our staff capacity is limited and we have been unable to meet the labor requirements needed to fill customized orders from our online store.

Our Farm Fresh Packages and Assorted In-Season Fruits and Vegetables were two of our most popular items, so our design of the boxes is meant to mimic these. We will also vary some add on items from time-to-time, so you will have the opportunity to slightly customize your box in that way. In addition, we will continue to offer the Farmer’s Pick meat boxes.

While we will have fewer options to choose from, you will still be getting nutrient-dense, high quality local foods that support our farmers. The contents will change with the season, so you’ll still get variety that way, as well as the satisfaction of knowing each box contains the peak offerings our region provides!

Pause to SNAP Online

We regrettably must suspend SNAP Online payments temporarily. This is a decision we hate to make, but it relates to a permitting issue and it is one we cannot avoid. 

The last day to pay with SNAP Online will be also be Sunday, July 16th (placed by midnight) for delivery the week of July 17th-21st. Please remember that if you have earned any Double Up Food Bucks, you should also redeem these by this date. 

We know many of our SNAP customers are also participants in AdkAction’s Fair Food Program. We have noticed that most are opting to use their PEX food card, rather than SNAP, and hope that pausing SNAP will have a reduced impact because of this. SNAP will still be accepted in our Essex Market, so you are welcome to come shop in person any time if you are able to come to us.

We apologize for this difficult decision, but we assure you we will work as quickly as possible to bring SNAP Online back as soon as we can. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns at all.
